Where our numbers come from, and how to use them.
AquaStocker gives fishkeepers fast, honest answers. Here is how our data and tools work.
Each species' adult size, minimum tank, temperature and pH range, temperament and schooling needs is a curated dataset, cross-checked against hobbyist consensus and reference sources including FishBase and Wikipedia species accounts. We favour conservative, real-world tank sizes over optimistic store-label minimums.
Species and aquascape photos come from Wikimedia Commons under their licenses, attributed on each image.
Compatibility verdicts and stocking estimates are computed from those parameters — temperature and pH overlap, temperament, adult size and bioload, and schooling minimums. A strong starting point, not a guarantee.
This is planning guidance for a hobby, not veterinary advice. Research any species before buying, cycle your tank, and see an aquatic vet for sick fish.
