Not bowl fish

Goldfish get big and produce huge amounts of waste. A single fancy goldfish needs 20+ gallons, plus 10 more per additional fish — bowls are a death sentence.

Coldwater, not tropical

Goldfish prefer cooler water (65–75°F) and don't need a heater in a normal room. They're not compatible with tropical community fish.

Heavy filtration

Their waste load demands strong filtration and regular water changes. Most goldfish deaths come from undersized tanks and poor water, not old age.
